House Rules Open House Commons

Who it's for The Open Huis of the world's oldest book museum is a place for everyone, young and old, who loves books. Whether you read together or alone, write a book, read one, or want to talk about one — you're welcome. 

Large groups 

To keep the space comfortable and accessible for everyone, we ask groups of more than ten people to register with us in advance. 

Sharing the space 

We believe in a free, public meeting place. This means the doors are always open to newcomers, and we do not set rooms aside exclusively for private, closed gatherings. The Open Huis is also not intended for giving commercial, paid classes. Would you like to rent a space for a group class or gathering? That's possible via reserveringen@rijksmuseummeermanno.nl 

Food and drink For a good cup of coffee, tea, or a soft drink, you're always welcome in our cozy museum café. To safeguard the collection and the spaces, we kindly ask you not to bring your own glassware or alcohol. 

Special gatherings The Open House Commons is a place for meeting and dialogue. To ensure everyone feels welcome here, we ask clubs considering a gathering with a political or religious character to request this with us in advance. 

Taking care of the space and each other

Just like in a good book, we value a nice ending to your visit. We ask everyone to treat the furniture and each other's belongings with care, and to leave the space tidy afterward for the next reader.
