Why your support matters
Rijksmuseum Meermanno is the oldest book museum in the world and the only museum in the Netherlands fully dedicated to the book as an art form and cultural heritage. As a national museum, we receive funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to preserve and maintain our exceptional collection. This basic funding is vital, but unfortunately not enough; additional support is urgently needed. With your involvement, the museum can achieve much more: developing exhibitions on contemporary themes, creating educational programs for students from all across The Hague, and organizing free community activities that connect book lovers, such as book clubs.
Become a Friend
As a Friend of Rijksmuseum Meermanno, you join a large community of fellow book lovers. Among other things, your friendship makes vital new museum acquisitions possible. In return, you enjoy unlimited free entry to the museum, invitations to exhibition openings and exclusive events, opportunities to meet like-minded book enthusiasts, and our biannual museum magazine Leeslint. Join the Gilders’ Circle
As a member of the Gilders’ Circle (Vergulders Kring), you are not merely a donor; as a pioneer, you actively help lay the foundations for our museum’s future. As a Gilder, you support the museum with an annual donation starting at €2,000 for a period of five years, formalized in a tax-efficient agreement. What makes this Circle truly special is the personal engagement and direct contact. To express our gratitude, we invite our Gilders to an annual dinner with the board of directors. During this evening, we take the time to dine together, personally share our upcoming plans with you, and informally exchange thoughts on the museum's developments and ambitions. Leaving a legacy to Rijksmuseum Meermanno
When you visit Rijksmuseum Meermanno, you are literally walking inside a legacy. Over 175 years ago, both the monumental museum building and its impressive collection were bequeathed to the State of the Netherlands by Baron Willem van Westreenen van Tiellandt. Thanks to the Baron’s bequest, this treasure trove of cultural history remains accessible to new generations of art and book lovers today.

ANBI status
Rijksmuseum Meermanno is a registered ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation). Donors to an ANBI are permitted to deduct their gifts from Dutch income or corporate tax. Bequests are also exempt from inheritance tax, ensuring your gift benefits the museum entirely.
