Abel van Gijlswijk is the lead singer of Hang Youth, an iconoclast, and an anarchist of the fatherland. Once known as the ‘Punk Rock Messiah,’ he has since evolved into a leisure philosopher with an esoteric worldview.
‘Given the dire state of the world,’ he recently wrote the book Chaotisch denken voor gevorderden (Chaotic Thinking for Advanced Learners). In it, Abel shares everything he suspects might save the earth. You read along during his nocturnal wanderings and gain an unvarnished look into a universe filled with metaphysics, conspiracies, the apocalypse, and a mysterious library.
As part of the exhibition Apocalypse: Fear and Hope, Rijksmuseum Meermanno is hosting a live conversation with Abel. An excellent opportunity to dive into his mind and get close to the messiah, if only for a moment.
